Liverpool has a world-wide reputation for it's humour and wit, so it is hardly surprising that so many comedians have emerged from the city. It is virtually impossible to include them all, however, the following list of profiles will be extended shortly.

Craig Charles was born in Liverpool on 11 July 1964 and at the age of 12 won a Guardian newspaper poetry prize. His interests in poetry and music continued and he started his career as a warm-up presenter for bands in Liverpool. It is the sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf for which he is best known, however. Since the success of Dwarf, Charles has acted in several other television roles and hosted various programs including the BBC consumer show 'Them and Us' and guest presenting the 'Wogan'. He continued his live performances and in 1995 his stand up performance 'Craig Charles - Live On Earth' quickly sold out in London's West End.
