THE LAS

The Las consisted of Lee Mavers, Paul Hemmings, John Timson and John Power- who later went onto greater success with Cast. Despite huge success with 'There She Goes' in 1988, the band had folded by 1990 due to the perfectionist Mavers. Their first album was released nearly two years after it had been started such was Mavers' determination that it should be perfect. It was much to late after the single for it to have a major impact and subsequently only reached number 30 in the Album charts.

A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS

Formed in 1979 by Mike Score, brother Ali and Frank Maudsley, the band A Flock Of Seagulls used to rehearse above Mike's hair salon in Whitechapel in the centre of Liverpool. It is not known how much of this rehearsal time was given to styling the hair that probably made them more famous than the music itself. Their success in America was remarkable and they are best remembered for concerts in Madison Square Garden and the JFK Stadium in front of 90,000 fans. Their biggest hit in the UK was 'Wishing (If I Had A Photograph Of You).

PETE WYLIE

Having already established himself on the Liverpool music scene with earlier bands, it was no surprise that Pete Wylie would eventually succeed in his own right. The Mighty Wah's 'Story Of The Blues' got Wylie noticed in the early eighties. His 'Sinful' album and it's American success enabled him to drop the Wah title and flourish alone. One of his recent efforts, 'Heart As Big As Liverpool' is though to be a tribute to Bill Shankly.

Their partnership with Latham proved highly successful and they released their debut single, "Forgotten Town" in Jan 1987. The release of two more singles ensured that the album went triple platinum with U.K. sales alone exceeding 1,000,000 and on the back of its success the Christians began to tour Europe.
