Liverpool Legends Liverpool Characters |
|---|
|
'Local
characters' are not unique to Liverpool, however, the city does have a
history of colourful, local entertainers, waifs and strays. Many of them
are sadly long forgotten, people like Joseph Wigglesworth and Annie Garvey.

|
| Joseph Wigglesworth was one of Liverpool's best known characters. At the age of 13 he lost both of his legs having fallen from a cliff. For over thirty years he sat on his cart in Pudsey Street. He lived in nearby Bridport Street and died of bronchitis in 1911, aged 94. |
